PORTFOLIO

I'm Lily, an artist and creative based in Nashville. When I’m not drawing and painting, I’m writing. Someday, I'll be an icon.

The past two years I lived in Portugal where I developed my own art style by traveling to places like Paris, London & Rome to be inspired by the greatest artists in the world.

DIGITAL ART

A collection of my digital art pieces.

Showing my time-lapse “build up” for each drawing.

Medium: Digital

ABOUT: I think emotion is such a big part of how you connect and relate to art. And that is whether you are an artist, or not. While drawing this specific piece, the emotion displayed on her face felt sad, or that they just started to understand something; which brought me to the name of “Understandment”.

My process and time-lapse:

“Concentration”

Medium: Digital

ABOUT: While drawing this, my original thought was that she looked angry, but as I was nearing the end of finishing the piece, she looked a bit more on the concentrated side.

“Summer”

Medium: Digital

ABOUT: Immediately when I was drawing this eye, everything spoke to me in such a warm welcoming way. The colors seemed so calm yet excited. But the name summer came to me most because of the warm tones I used.

“Strawberry Shortcake”

Medium: Digital

ABOUT: Drawing food always is so fun for me. I felt like I could taste this shortcake through the screen! I really liked how the background was very neutral compared to the very vibrant strawberries.

My process and time-lapse:

Medium: Digital

ABOUT: I wanted something that showed slight happiness but not totally gleaming, so I settled on the name “Neutral”. Everything about this drawing screamed exquisite and gleaming, but a slight taste of neutrality evens the mood.

Mediums used: Graphite pencil, alcoholic markers, blending stick. (On paper)

ABOUT: While drawing this, it reminded me of the sunsets I would watch at a place I used to live. It gave me a little bit of nostalgia, but also left me with a satisfied stylish look.

“Skeleton”

Mediums used: Graphite pencil, blending stick, black acrylic paint. (On paper)

ABOUT: While doing some small studying on how to draw bone structure and anatomy, it inspired me so much to make a full finished product!

“Acceptance”

Mediums used: Blue ball point pen, light blue highlighter. (On paper)

ABOUT: While drawing this, I originally had the piece only in ball point pen, but then while adding some of the light blue highlighter, it added a needed pop of color.

“Woe”

Mediums used: Graphite Pencil, blending stick. (On paper)

ABOUT: Before drawing this, in school we were reading Romeo and Juliet, and I was so touched by the book I decided to make a drawing that I picture how Romeo felt a majority of the time throughout the reading.

Why I want to attend Nashville School of the Arts

MY ESSAY

As I stand in a room with countless other people. Despite our obvious differences, we are all hungry for the same thing. We are hungry for inspiration. And that is what I think as I stand before the Mona Lisa. Art plays a huge role in my life, influencing my expression and how I perceive the world around me.  So when I look at the woman behind a glass box, I don’t just see a carefully crafted masterpiece, I see possibility. I see history. I see talent. And most importantly I see inspiration.

I was granted the opportunity of having two years to travel the world, I've encountered various forms of art, from an acrobat in London to a violinist in Paris. Each calculated move or note captivates my soul, grounding me in the moment. This experience immerses me in reality and inspires me to draw the scene, eager to add my own touch to the art around me.

In that two year span, I lived in a country called Portugal, and I got to see the world. Each member of my family had a different reason for moving. We had our different types of inspiration we were searching for. For me, I got the opportunity to be inspired by forms of art. But when we moved back to Nashville, I have yet to find the opportunity to improve my art and be inspired. So when I came to the opportunity to apply for Nashville School of the Arts, I knew this would be my chance. I am a determined, hardworking student, with the sole purpose of improving my artistic gift.

Drawing is not only my passion, but it is part of who I am. Attending Nashville School of the Arts, I will become not only a better version of my overall self, but it will also help me to become an overall better artist. Not only through the way I can draw something but being able to think in a motivated way so I am forever inspired.
